But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently (Rom 8:25)
You ever wish you could go back to a certain moment in time and have a “do over”? Well, I certainly do all the time. Today I got a call from the fertility clinic. Thinking they would tell me we could start our meds and come in this week for the June cycle, I was left disappointed. “It’s too late” I was told and that I would have to wait until July to start things back up. I am not getting any younger here! I felt defeated and angry. I thought back to the day I had to stop treatment just to have a procedure that ended up being for nothing. I could have continued if I had just been more reluctant not to go through with an unnecessary procedure, but I wasn’t. I wanted to cry, but my tears were held back by disappointment. I sent my husband a text and his gentle reply was, “It’s okay we know He is coming. One more month won’t hurt”! While I wanted to be even more angry, he is so right. The bible tells us “But if we hope for what we do not have, we wait for it patiently (Rom 8:25). I thank God for wisdom and a husband who loves the Lord. We have been patiently waiting for our miracle. I cannot even begin to count the needles, the pills, the month-after-month failures, the tears, the weight gain, and all the other trials that come along with trying to bring life into a dying world. With each failure I flip through pages of pain only to look up to a strong and godly husband who is always there to keep me encouraged and focused. “Just one more month”, “not yet babe, God has not perfected him”, “He will be here soon”, these are just a few encouraging words he says to me. I love him even the more for being strong for the both of us because He is just as disappointed as I am.
I know that there is a time and purpose for everything under the sun, and our prayers have not fallen on death ears. I just have to wait one more month to get back started and hopefully before the end of summer we will have some great news to share. If not I will yet wait and hope in the Lord. Whatever it is you are seeking for on today, wait patiently for your answer. God knows the perfect timing for all things and He will never fail us.
